NASA is saying that Chile's earthquake actually shifted the earth's axis by about 8 cm. What kind of problems could this cause for earth? Has this happened before?

According to
Nasa
, the Sumatran earthquake in 2004 shortened the length of each day by 6.8 microseconds and shifted Earth's axis by about 7 centimeters.
Even though the earthquake in Chile was smaller, it's location made it much more effective in shifting Earth's axis.
Looks like we are loosing sleep time with every earthquake. =/
