We've all been told for many years now that crude oil and natural gas are products of millions of years of geochemical processing of long-dead creatures. Now researchers are starting to find that these materials may also be found much deeper in the Earth's mantle and may possibly have a non-organic origin. This raises many questions--how do we drill that deep? What are the repercussions of pulling these resources from the Earth's mantle?
