OK, when I was in high school I read a book called Hyperspace by Michio Kaku detailing the post Einsteinian physics theory that was popular at the time.  The book focused on how we can explain the weird stuff we see in the standard model if we add on an extra.... say 7-23 dementions.

The last masters in physics student I talked to a few years ago said that the math behind superstring theory was imposible and didn't make sense.  Or the math didn't work.  Which is a common critque of the theory.  He explained to me that although super string theory was a rebelion agaisnt the standard model, it was still a fad and still could not be used to predict outcomes.

My question is what is now the current thinking among physiasists and their decenters?  What are the popular "theories of everything"
