Male basilisks have a frill running down their backs all the way to the tail.

The term basilisk comes from an Ancient Greek Legend that refers to a small snake, no more than 12 fingers in length, that has a lethal gaze. It was the king of the snakes and the most poisonous creature on Earth.

Basilisks escape predators by sprinting across water. Their webbed feet keep them on the surface while their tail acts as a counterweight.
